  • Keeping busy over Whitsun...

Thu 21 May 2020 Mrs Anderson

We won't be setting home learning over the Whitsun holiday. ('Yay' I hear the children say!!) However, in these challenging times it would be very easy to get bored and lazy, so here's a few things to do!

    Going on a DUCK hunt!

As you know, our school logo has a duck in the middle of it. Our smallest children even come to Ducks! So my first challenge for you is to make a big picture of a duck- as bright as you can make it- and put it in a window at the front of your house for everyone to see.

My second challenge is for you to spot as many of the displayed ducks as you can when you are out and about, keeping active, walking or on your bikes or scooters. If you do see a picture of a duck in the window of a house, give the house a wave. It's a sign that one of our Dingle team live there! Me and my little boy will be walking around to see how many we can spot.

    Share a book

My next challenge is for you to connect with your friends by recommending a book to them. If you have read a really cracking book over the last few weeks send me an email using the info@dingle.dudley.sch.uk email.

It must be your words, but you may want an adult to help you with writing the email if you are struggling.

Remember to tell me the name of the book, the author and write a paragraph explaining why you would recommend the book to a friend!

I'll post the recommendations in the 'Children' section of our website.

Other things to keep you busy

Here are some websites that I think are worth a look to give you some ideas of things to do during the week. You might have done some of these things already, but if not, have a go and enjoy!

Your new craft challenge is to do some junk modelling!!

Make whatever you like out of the bottles, boxes, toilet roll tubes, cartons etc that you would be throwing into your recycling.

Make sure that you send a photo of yourself with your junk modelling to info@dingle.dudley.sch.uk by Monday 18th May if you would like it shared on our school website.

  • VE Day 75th Anniversary Challenge and Bank Holiday 'Home Learning'

Fri 01 May 2020 Mrs Anderson

Friday 8th May is the 75th Anniversary of VE Day, so here is your craft challenge for the week.

    • Research what VE Day is all about and why we mark it.
    • Then decorate part of your house in red, white and blue, ready for the day itself and send me a photo.

Do as little or as much as you like and be as creative as you want! Send your photos to info@dingle.dudley.sch.uk by Thursday 7th May and I'll upload them so that we can see how everyone is marking the day.

If you do anything special on the day itself, please feel free to send me photos and I will add them to the website to share with everyone else. Whilst teachers will not be setting any home learning tasks for that day, it would be wonderful if the children could spend the day finding out about VE Day and celebrating this special anniversary. Have a look at https://www.goodtoknow.co.uk/family/ve-day-celebrations-in-lockdown-540015 for some lovely ideas of what you could do as a family.

  • Your craft challenge. It's all about you!

Tue 21 Apr 2020 Mrs Anderson

    Your new challenge is this!

    Create a self portrait.

You can do it in any way that you like. Get creative! Send your photos of your artwork to info@dingle.dudley.sch.uk by Thursday 30th April. Please feel free to include your name in your artwork or to be in the photo yourself if you are happy to be on the website.

    Enjoy!

  • Your new challenge...

Tue 14 Apr 2020 Mrs Anderson

I have really enjoyed receiving and sharing your craft challenges. Keep it up! As it is so sunny, your new challenge is this:

Make a picture using only things you have found in the garden.

It can be a picture of anything you like, but must only be made of things you have found outside! Send me a photo of your picture, to info@dingle.dudley.sch.uk , by Monday 20th April and I will post it on our school website.

    Happy Crafting!

  • Things to do over Easter...

Fri 03 Apr 2020 Mrs Anderson

    Hello everyone!

No Dudley schools are going to be setting homework for over Easter. However, we thought it might be nice to post some ideas of things you could do whilst we're at home! Have a look at these links. There are some really ace ideas.

Fruits of the Forest: Forest Schools/outdoor learning:

Have a look at this Facebook page for some cracking things to do, including details of a sunflower growing competition.

    https://www.facebook.com/groups/1655733501217330/about/

James Dyson Science and Engineering challenges:

Have a look at this website for some brilliant challenges to get your child observing scientific phenomenon and problem solving! The engineering challenges (second half of the document) are my personal favourites!

    https://www.jamesdysonfoundation.co.uk/resources/challenge-cards.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwvZv0BRA8EiwAD9T2VSO2qaGn84VDcxwuG2UgLKCRso7uQE5rMVJWSPoPQFM02pTQ9Kaw2hoC5owQAvD_BwE

    Cbeebies ideas:

There is a bank of ideas from recipes to den making challenges available through this link.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/grownups/things-to-do-indoors-with-your-children

Fun home learning including a recipe for playdough!:

My favourite sections of this site are the links to physical activity websites and the link to the recipe for playdough, in case your stash is looking a little worse for wear!

    https://www.planbee.com/blog/home-learning-activities-primary/

Whilst we won't be setting work via the class teachers' daily messages over Easter, of course we encourage some learning and engagement with Phonics Play or TT Rockstars. The teachers' daily messages will start again on Monday 20th April.

I've also set my Easter challenge and look forward to seeing what the children have created!

Have a wonderful time together. I hope to see you all soon and really hope that you are all staying safe and well.

  • Your Easter Challenge!

Tue 31 Mar 2020 Mrs Anderson

It goes without saying that we can't have our normal Easter Bonnet Parades and Egg Decorating Competition, but the thought of this made me so sad that I've decided that we're going to use the wonder of technology to have them anyway!!

    Ducks and classes D, I and N:

I challenge you to make your Easter bonnets! If you do want to join in, make them and then send me a photo of you modelling your bonnet, as an attachment to an email to info@dingle.dudley.sch.uk and I'll post it on the website so we can have a virtual parade!

    Classes G, L, E and S:

I challenge you to egg decorating! If you do want to join in, decorate your eggs and then send a photo as an email attachment to info@dingle.dudley.sch.uk and I will post the photos to the website, so that we have a virtual display rather than a display in the Community Room.

Just like we did last year, we will even judge the bonnets and eggs and will make sure winners get prizes and announce the winners online!

Any bonnet or egg decorating photos need to be emailed over by Wednesday 8th April and will be posted by the Easter weekend!

Good luck and enjoy crafting! You may need to get creative with your recycling and other things you can find in your house and garden, but I really wanted to keep the traditions of our bonnet parade and egg decorating competition alive!

    Mrs Anderson xx
