Our Curriculum
A broad, balanced and creative curriculum is an aspiration for all of us at Dingle Community.
Please use this page to gain a further insight into what your child will be learning in their year group and in individual subjects.
Everything we do at Dingle Community Primary is underpinned by our school vision.

We have six core curricular purposes. These are six key ideas that we use to inform how we deliver our curriculum and the learning opportunities provided for our pupils. They are our Curriculum Drivers.

Reading for Knowledge, Pleasure and Power
At Dingle Community Primary, we place reading at the heart of our curriculum. We aim to develop fluent, confident readers with a deep love of books and stories.
Through rich, diverse texts and daily reading opportunities, we help children explore new worlds, broaden their vocabulary, and build the knowledge that underpins success across all subjects.
Communication and Oracy
At Dingle Community Primary, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to engage in purposeful talk, listen actively, share ideas and express thoughts and opinions confidently.
Oracy is embedded across our curriculum to help children develop their thinking, communication, and social interaction skills—empowering them to articulate ideas, debate thoughtfully, and engage meaningfully with the world around them.
Cultural Capital and Enrichment- Broadening Horizons
At Dingle Community Primary, we believe every child deserves access to rich, meaningful experiences that go beyond the classroom.Through a carefully planned programme of enrichment opportunities, we build children’s cultural capital—introducing them to the arts, heritage, literature, music, and places that inspire curiosity and ambition. We intentionally challenge stereotypes and celebrate diversity, ensuring that every child sees themselves reflected in what they learn, while also gaining respect for the lives, voices and experiences of others. British Values are embedded and explicitly taught alongside Rights Respecting Articles.
Our curriculum equips pupils with the knowledge and experiences to thrive in a diverse, modern world.
Sense of Place and Community
At Dingle Community Primary, we believe that learning about the past helps children understand the present and shape the future.
Through the study of local, national, and global history, and the lives of significant individuals from diverse backgrounds, children develop a strong sense of identity, heritage, and aspiration. By exploring who we are, where we come from, and how society has changed over time, children learn the values of courage, resilience, leadership, and standing up for what is right.
They are inspired by those who made a difference and empowered to believe they can too. At Dingle Community Primary, we believe children should learn about significant people—past and present—who have shaped the world through courage, creativity, leadership, and resilience. By exploring the lives of diverse individuals from local, national, and global contexts, children develop aspiration, understand positive role models, and recognise their own potential to make a difference.
Environmental Responsibility- Caring for our Planet, Shaping our future
At Dingle Community Primary, we believe in teaching children to care for and protect the world around them.
Our curriculum helps pupils understand the importance of sustainability, the impact of human actions, and the role they can play in looking after our environment. From learning about climate change and biodiversity to taking part in eco-projects and local conservation, we empower children to think globally, act locally, and become future citizens who respect and care for their planet and each other in line with Global Sustainability Goals.
Learning for Life
At Dingle Community Primary, we believe that strong minds, healthy bodies, and confident problem-solvers are the foundation of successful learning and happy lives.
Our curriculum teaches children how to care for their physical and mental wellbeing, helping them develop lifelong habits that support health, happiness, and emotional strength. We inspire ambition and aspiration by encouraging every child to dream big, work hard, and believe in their ability to achieve.Through real-life learning, investigation, and collaboration, our pupils learn to think critically, question bravely, and overcome obstacles with determination and creativity—preparing them not just for school, but for life.
