Intent

Learning within art and design stimulates creativity and imagination. It provides tactile and sensory experiences and a special way of understanding and responding to the world. A high-quality art and design education should inspire, engage and challenge children – enabling pupils to communicate that they see, feel and think through the use of colour form, texture and pattern. The three domains have been mapped out across themes to ensure that pupils will have ample opportunities to progress in art by developing their practical, theoretical and disciplinary knowledge.  Each year children will build upon their knowledge of chromatic, monochromatic and sculpture techniques and skills.

Our curriculum aims to support children to:
* Produce creative work, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences
* Become proficient in drawing, painting, sculpture and other art, craft and design techniques
* Evaluate and analyse works using the language of art, craft and design
* Know about great artists, craft makers and designers, and understand the historical and cultural
development of their art forms
