Intent

At Dingle Community Primary School, we are WORLD CITIZENS!

We believe that Religious Education (RE) plays a vital role in shaping our pupils' personal, spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development. RE provides a unique opportunity for children to explore meaningful questions about life’s purpose, the nature of belief, and the role of religion in shaping personal values and society. Through reflection on both religious and non-religious worldviews, we aim to equip children with the knowledge, understanding, and skills to navigate the complexities of different beliefs, develop respect for others, and engage thoughtfully with the profound questions that religion raises.

Religious Education encourages pupils to develop empathy, curiosity, and a respect for diverse worldviews. We aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum that not only offers a deep understanding of Christianity and other major world religions, but also fosters a sense of moral reflection and respect for the diversity of faiths around the world.

Through an enquiry-based approach, we provoke thought, raise questions, and encourage pupils to discover answers through exploration and research. By engaging with sacred stories, traditions, and religious artefacts, pupils will deepen their understanding of how religion influences individuals and societies. We want our children to grow up as thoughtful, reflective, and empathetic individuals who can confidently engage in discussions about faith, belief, and morality, while appreciating the diversity of views held by others.

We intend to develop pupils’ skills in enquiry, interpretation, reflection, and analysis, ensuring they can engage with complex ethical dilemmas and make reasoned responses to moral and religious questions.

In RE, pupils will study a variety of worldviews, learning to articulate their own beliefs while gaining a greater understanding of the beliefs held by others. Through engaging with real-life experiences, including visits to places of worship and discussions with local faith leaders, pupils will see how religious practices influence everyday life and gain a deeper appreciation of the world’s diverse faith communities.
