Inclement Weather
❄Inclement Weather Information for Parents ❄
Our Aim
Dingle Community Primary School will remain open whenever it is safe to do so. The safety and welfare of pupils, families and staff is our priority.
When Might the School Close?
The school may close if any of the following apply:
- There are insufficient staff available to operate the school safely
- The school site is unsafe or inaccessible
- Emergency vehicles cannot access the site
- Weather conditions make travel hazardous or are expected to worsen
- Advice is received from the Local Authority
Decision Making
The decision to close the school is made by the Headteacher or, in their absence, a member of the Senior Leadership Team, taking into account weather forecasts, site safety and local authority guidance.
How We Will Communicate with Parents
Parents and carers will be informed of any closure or early closure via:
- Text message
- Updates on social media
- Local radio announcements
If you do not receive a message, the school remains open. Please ensure your contact details are kept up to date.
Late Arrival and Early Collection
If the school is open, parents should make every effort to bring children to school where it is safe to do so. If you expect to arrive late, please contact the school. Parents may request early collection if weather conditions worsen; this will be considered on an individual basis.
During the School Day
If severe weather develops during the school day and an early closure is required, the school will contact all parents and carers to arrange safe collection.
Attendance
If the school remains open, absences may be recorded as unauthorised unless there are exceptional circumstances. All absences should be reported following normal school procedures.
Your Safety
We do not expect families or staff to put themselves at risk. Please use your own judgement and follow local weather warnings.
